Each part of the Chilli Farm has affectionately been named after a Chilli and the nursery is no exception.
We have named the nursery the "Prairie Fire Nursery".
So far we have planted several thousand seeds and have the seedlings growing in the main glasshouse.
With the great weather
we've been having, we're now moving the plants out into the
poly-tunnels.
We're setting up our
hydroponics system in our glass greenhouse, which we will
use as our demonstration area when we give talks during the
summer.
We're concentrating on a
smaller number of varieties this year, primarily the
chillies which are used in restaurant, however we will be
growing more Padron de Pimentos for our BBQ and tapas
restaurant - this should be fun!
Plant sales have been very
good this year and we will definitely have to grow more next
year to keep up with demand. However, we still have plenty
of the smaller windowsill varieties such as Prairie Fire,
Aurora and some NuMex varieties too.
